Gumball Machine, Painting, and Cuties

This baptism was very DIY. I really like how it is all turning out and coming together. So for the dessert table I am serving different treats and candies, and one of them are M&Ms (have I ever said that I HATE writing that word), and then gumballs. What better to serve these things than in a homemade gumball machine. 

So again, this project was SO easy, I didnt do a lot of in-between steps. 

This is the bottom of a terra cotta pot found at Walmart. One thing that I found which SUCKS is that the base was as expensive as the damn pot!!!! So this base was like a 1.29 or something. The little ball is just a wood ball found at craft store....but I actually swiped mine from a rummage sale. It looks like it should have been a bead or something weird. Whatever. 

This is the Terra Cotta pot. Again, it cost like 1.29 or a 1.49. I spray painted the pot and the bottom. I made a pink one and a blue one. The glass bowl is like a fish bowl from Michaels. The bowl was 2.99 or 3.99, but my sister used them for her wedding......so I snagged two for free! hahah. Considering I am storing them in my basement....I figured no one would notice!

I realized I dont have a final picture....man I am lame. I will have to go home and take one!!!!!

ps.......can you see my background that I spray paint in my basement. Yes Brent is not very happy with me. haha. I laid down a sheet though so all of my stuff goes on top of the sheet on not directly on the floor. haha. BUT the fumes still make my basement stinky. 

well the one time he yelled at me, I did go outside and spray painted.....but hello......remember I live in the country.....GRAVEL....WIND......SPRAYPAINT........not a good combo. grrrr. I got tiny pieces of grass and dirt and gravel on a couple of my pots. So sorry....until my basement is all the way complete....I will spray paint down there. Also, I must mention....the white sheet.....was the backdrop at my sisters wedding.....giggle giggle..........

So peanut butter needed a painting to be behind the dessert table. I really didnt know what I wanted until I saw the following painting online.......

please note....I DID NOT PAINT THIS ONE!!!!! It is beautiful and wonderful. Zaylee needed one. So what I did is bought a pack of canvas.....which was AWESOME because at Michaels I caught the deal where it was buy one get one free.....and a pack of 2 canvases this size is 14.99. THEN I had a 50% off coupon.....DOUBLE SCORE!!!! 4 canvases of the 11x14 size for 7.99!!!!! weeehoo. 

Then last night I painted the background pink. There are actually two colors, not sure if you can tell or not. A dark pink and a lighter one. I painted the darker one first, then I took my brush with the lighter color and just swooshed in horizontally. I then took glitter paint (YES!!! THEY MAKE GLITTER PAINT!!!!!!!!) that I found for .99 at michaels and blended that in. I am sure you cant see the sparkle, but its there!!!! Then I free handed (yes...I actually did. I swear to you) this butterfly. I am so very very thankful that I got my mother's artistic ability. I can paint and draw rough, "cute" things amazingly well. Andrew, my brother, can draw super well like cartoon characters and stuff in comic books. I am not sure about real life, because I don't think he has ever tried. Alison....can do nothing. hahaha

Anyway, so I drew the butterfly, and then I puffy painted it over my pencil lines. Today I am going to paint over the puffy paint, and pray to God it looks amazing!!!!!!

Here it is again!!!! Good thing my dad is bringing me a BRAND NEW homemade table.....because oops! Got a little...or a lot of paint on this one......hehehe. 

OH!!! IN the backround (I just noticed) can you see the pink butterfly??? That is Zaylee's footprints, just like backwards, to make a butterfly, and I painted the body. The little dots are her thumbrints. I will try and remember to take pics tonight!!!!!!!!

as requested from my friend Taryn....Here are my ducks!!! I know it is hard to tell how big they are....but this is like a 50 gallon tote......so a HUGE tote....look at how big they are in this!!!! And honestly....this was from maybe 4 days ago....so they have GROWN so much more!!!!!!!!!! It is so hard to tell on pictures!!!

and again!! They are really starting to change their coloring and new feathers are coming in and so are their butt feathers!!! haha

Awwww there is me and my little "mini me". Chilling after folding clothes. Seriously this is how I spend my night. I do stuff...and she sits RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!

Centerpieces!

I love making things. Especially with flowers. I am not really crafty or creative when it does come to flowers. I like making them though and the few things I HAVE done have turned out pretty cute. 

Just like these cute things for my princess's butterfly garden baptism!

For her baptism, I wanted something different, so I thought pails would be need. Usually I do glass or crystal stuff. I found these pails at Target for a dollar. BUT I did find at Oriental Trading that it is only 10.00 for a dozen. A bit of a savings. grrrr. Awe well!

I got the green floral foam (again my favorite!) at the dollar store. It was a package of 4 for a dollar. I cut the cubes in half, because obviously I didnt need the whole thing, so for the 16 centerpieces I made.....I only needed 4 packages! SCORE! That's 4 bucks!!!

So I bought all these flowers on super cheap deal. I got some at michaels when they were having their 50% off deal, so like these tiny roses cost me only a dollar each. I also got daisies and carnations (which I HATE, but again they were a dollar and were white. So what the heck), and for some random reason I grabbed a thing of tulips. weird. So for all of the flowers, I spent like 10 bucks or so. Not too bad at all!!!!

So this part is the part I HATE THE MOST. You have to cute the flowers off of their stems. You have to in order to organize it and arrange it in the pot. Hint.....get a VERY good wire cutter. Seriously. Your hand will thank you!!!!!!

again, I got a little carried away with the putting together and forgot to take pictures in between the process. BUT it was super easy. LIterally. I stuck 2 carnations on opposite sides of each other, then two daisies across from eachother, on tulip just randomly in there, and then a rose randomly also. To top it off I stuck in a pin wheel. 

It was SO funny to see Zaylee try and figure it out!!! hahaha

Of course her theme is pink and navy blue....and honestly...I dont know WHY I chose pink and navy blue. I mean that is so weird. But I know I would have had pink anyway, but I dont know why I chose blue also. But I think it is a good accent and a contrast color. 

close up. I did stick in a few leaves from the daisies. I felt like it just needed something else. 

All done!!!! And Anthony..........I don't know what he was doing. I think watching Dora or Bubble Guppies. He was so cute. I kinda want to eat him and his mismatch pajamas up. :0)

Wreaths

For some reason, I am kind of addicted to wreaths. I want to make a wreath for like every month. I swear. I dont think it will happen, but it is a good goal. I could start with June......hehehe. July would be SO SUPER NEAT. Anyway, that's my new idea. But baby girl needs a wreath for her baptism, so here are the instructions!!!!

As always, my new friend, the floral foam wreath for like 2.99 at Michaels. I wonder if I could get them cheaper......but who knows!!! I purchased the Deco Mesh Ribbon on sale at Hobby Lobby for like only 2 bucks or something rediculous cheap (apparently there IS a difference with the ribbon and just the Mesh!! I am an idiot and didn't know this. Apparently the ribbon is much thinner and the regular mesh is like the size of like......4 ribbons laid across. Get it?!). Then floral pins which were like a .99. 

I was worried because I purchased the RIBBON that it wouldn't cover as full as the regular fabric width would. So I wrapped the wreath with the blue to cover the hideous floral green color. Plus I have kind of gotten into the habit of always covering my wreath. I kind of just like the ending product.

Ok once I have the whole wreath covered with the blue, I started with my regular wreath making process. I secured the edge of the pink mesh with a pin. Then I just made loopty loops with the pink. LIke you know how you grab ribbonm secure it, make a big "mountain" or a hill or whatever then secure it again with a pin. No cutting!!! 

I do apologize for the lack of pictures during the process. It was literally so easy, that I got carried away......haha. I forgot to take pictures!!!!!! SO you see how I made the "hills" or the loopty loops with the pink, well once I had made it all the way around the wreath....I THEN cut it and secured it with a pin. Then I started with the blue. SAME process, just that I secured the blue in the middle of the pink "hill"....make sense? That way the two colors would be secured in the opposite places. 

This next picture you can see what I am talking about. Again, I did another layer of pink, because I thought it just needed something. See how the colors are secured in the opposite places. I love deco mesh because it really held it's form, and you could shape it a bit. I am glad I wrapped the foam before hand, because my ribbon would NOT have been able to make it "full". 

After that, I still felt it needed something. SO I took ribbon and the floral pins and just shoved it through the middle. 

I then just put 3 blue in and 3 pink ribbons in. Just at like a triangle shape.

Baptism

So my little peanut is getting baptized this weekend!!!!!!! I am so beyond excited. I have so many little things that I have been planning.
For some reason I am not really too sure why I am making this event such a big event. BUT I guess, to me, baptism is a big event to me. This is where my baby gets to be finally joined with God!!! To me, it is just important thing.
The theme is butterfly garden. I have a variety of food and decor.
Food being served is Ham on Buns, Egg bake, Fruit, and variety of salad. The dessert or candy table will have Cinnamon rolls and Muffins then for the favors there will be Blue M&Ms (gosh I hate typing that word), Pink Gummy Candy, Pink Gumballs, Blue Toostie Footies, Blue Buttermints, and Pink personalized suckers. I have shot glasses for the M&Ms to go in, and whatever.......they are WAY SMALLER than what I had anticipated.......but whatever I guess. It will be a cute little glass for everyone. That is also personalized.
Well of course with any party.....attention needs to be payed to the details!!!!!!!!!! Now I will post pictures on some of the things I have been working on. I cant WAIT till baptism to post everything!!!!!!!!!!
